Cosmetic and Reconstructive Procedures

What is Plastic Surgery?

Have you ever wondered why it’s called Plastic Surgery?  The name gets its root from the Greek word “plastikos,” which means “to shape or to mold.”  Plastic Surgeons perform operations to reshape and remold facial and body features that have been damaged by aging, cancer, trauma, or birth defects.

Plastic Surgery encompasses two sub-categories: cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Cosmetic surgery aims to enhance your appearance and combat the signs of aging and weight gain.  Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), liposuction, breast augmentation, breast lift (mastopexy), breast reduction, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), browlift, facelift, otoplasty, and rhinoplasty are all cosmetic procedures performed by Dr. Stieg.

Reconstructive surgery treats congenital deformities (birth defects) and repairs damaged tissues after cancer or injury.  Cleft lip and palate repair, breast reconstruction after cancer, and septoplasty are all reconstructive procedures performed by Dr. Stieg.
