Liposuction is a procedure designed to help sculpt the body by removing unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, and neck.  Although liposuction is not a substitute for diet and exercise, it can remove stubborn areas of fat that don’t respond to traditional weight-loss methods.

Liposuction is accomplished through a few small incisions – 3 to 4 millimeters each.  It must be noted, however, that liposuction removes only fat.  It does not tighten the

underlying tissues or remove excess skin. Illustration - After Liposuction

There is a limitation to how much fat can be removed before unacceptable skin wrinkling occurs.  In order to minimize contour irregularities, it is usual to leave at least one centimeter of fat under the skin.

Post-operative bruising and swelling are expected due to the nature of the procedure.  Compression garments must be worn and physical activities must be limited for about six weeks after your surgery in order to prevent injury and to ensure proper healing.

If you would like to schedule a consultation to discuss liposuction with Dr. Stieg, please call our office at 407-647-4601.
